As one of our newest bus drivers, Scott Opdyke has been a wonderful addition to our Lamar CISD family. With his upbeat attitude and passion for students, Opdyke leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. As one of the first people to greet our students each day and one of the last to tell them goodbye when the school day is done, our students are sure to have a great start and end to each day.

Opdyke is flexible, enthusiastic and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He prioritizes safety, values the importance of teamwork and possesses an unwavering willingness to serve others. His cheery demeanor is always welcoming and students are eager to share tales of their day at school each time they board his route.

“With the state of the current bus driver shortage,” says Transportation site manager Stephen Sluder, “it’s reassuring to know we have drivers like Scott who always go above and beyond to help out where needed.”

When asked to emphasize a bus safety tip in honor of School Bus Safety Week, Opdyke spoke on the importance of students remaining seated until the bus comes to a full stop.

“The best part of my job is knowing my team and I are the ones tasked with getting our students to and from their homes safely,” said Opdyke. “My job is to keep them safe and to teach them how to best keep themselves safe.”

Thank you for "being the one," Scott! #BeThe1 #SchoolBusSafetyWeek
