The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) sponsor the Texas All-State audition process to promote students' dedication to their musical knowledge and skill. Beginning each fall, over 70,000 high school students across the state audition in their TMEA-ATSSB Region.

A select group of musicians advance to compete against musicians from other Regions in their TMEA Area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA-ATSSB Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 15 Texas All-State Bands.

On Feb. 13, eight Lamar CISD high school students will travel to San Antonio, TX to audition for ensemble and chair placement in the All-State Band. The All-State ensembles will rehearse for three days, directed by nationally recognized conductors, and perform on the closing day of the annual TMEA Clinic/Convention, this Saturday.

The 2018 –19 Lamar CISD All-State musicians are:

Three-time All-State musician, Lamar Consolidated High School senior Jared Holloway – Tuba, TMEA All State Band

Two-time All-State musician, Foster High School junior Robert Haring - Trumpet, TMEA 5A All State

Two-time All-State musician, Foster High School senior Patrick Keene – Trumpet, TMEA 6A All State

Two-time All-State musician, Foster High School sophomore Kai O’Donnell –Oboe, TMEA 5A All State

Fulshear High School senior Paige Nielsen – Tenor Sax, ATSSB All State Band

Terry High School junior Alex Agruso - Trombone, TMEA 5A All State

George Ranch High School sophomore Gabriel Vaca – Clarinet, TMEA 6A All

Lamar CISD is extremely proud of our advancing students and we wish them the best of luck in their auditions!
