Bentley Elementary Students Selected to Perform at TMEA

Feb 14, 2019 | Community Relations

Bentley

Bentley Elementary’s percussion ensemble, Bentley Beatz, will perform in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) on February 15. Out of more than 100 elementary schools that submitted audition tapes last spring, Bentley was one of three selected to perform.

Bentley Beatz is a musical group created and currently directed by music teacher Nick Perez. The group is composed of 25 fourth and fifth grade students who auditioned to join. Through Bentley Beatz, students connect through their passion for music and form meaningful relationships with one another. The group’s goal is to set the standard for elementary performance groups through their creativity and originality. What truly makes Bentley Beatz one of a kind is the unique partnership between teacher and students as they join together to create one euphonious sound.

This collaboration fosters many fundamental social and musical opportunities for our students. Perez believes that music education is a vital part of a child’s development and he works purposefully to ensure that all his students receive an informative yet exciting musical education.
