On April 8, McNeill Elementary students were treated to a STAAR test pep rally featuring some very special guests. After being nominated by a parent, McNeill was selected as a school to participate in “TORO Shoots for the STAAR.” TORO,
mascot of the Houston Texans, visited McNeill to get the students pumped up and ready for their upcoming STAAR tests. He was joined later in the program by Texans Player #93 Joel Heath. The two encouraged students with helpful tips on best practices for preparing their bodies and minds for the upcoming tests.
This educational program, created by the Houston Texans and
sponsored by First Community Credit Union, aims to emphasize the importance of taking care of your mind and body while preparing for the STAAR test. Through demonstrations, prize
giveaways and virtual presentations from Texans players and cheerleaders, TORO and Heath reminded students how to best prepare for the STAAR test and encouraged them to do their very best!
