May 10, 2024 – Rosenberg, Texas – Recently, Lamar CISD recognized the 2023-2024 Volunteers of the Year during the annual luncheon hosted by the Community Relations Department.
On May 9, the District celebrated 49 volunteers from across all campuses including the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (LEAF). Each campus nominated an individual who has shown tremendous dedication and is an outstanding member of their campus community.
“Val Bernal is the first one in and last one out kind of volunteer,” Fulshear High School principal, Brian Forshee said. “Our kids know that they will be fed and loved whether we are performing at home or across the state."
These are the highest campus honors awarded to those individuals who give up their free time and go above and beyond for students and staff. The volunteers enjoyed a student performance by the Austin Elementary Choir and received a voucher for free entry to campus and athletic events for the 2024-2025 school year.
“As our District continues to grow, we strive to create and build a strong foundation with the support of community partners and volunteers,” Lamar CISD Community Relations Director, Dr. Kanesha Waites said. “Each hour they dedicate to our campuses ensures student and family success.”
