Common Threads accepts donations of clothing for children ages 4-18. This can be either uniform or non-uniform clothing as well as backpacks, or school supplies. Everything must be gently worn, please! We also take purses, belts, cosmetic bags, and used books as well. We take only new socks and underwear though. Even though our hours vary, please feel free to drop off your donations at our outdoor bin. Please follow the driveway to our back dock where blue donation is located. Common Threads is located at 414 S. 9th Street, Richmond, Texas 77469.
Please contact Elida Castillo at 832-223-0342 or email at [email protected] for more information. Service/Community hours will be given for those eligible.
ELIGIBILITY
Lamar CISD families that find themselves in difficult situations may be eligible for assistance from Common Threads. Questions about participation in the program should be directed to the school nurse. Community members may also provide information about families needing assistance by contacting the student's school nurse. All referrals are confidential.
After the referral is approved parents and students may choose to select school clothes at Common Threads or to have a clothing request filled and sent to the campus. Each student will be provided with new or gently used sets of clothes, socks, undergarments, shoes, toiletry items and backpacks based on availability.
GETTING INVOLVED
Parents, student organizations and community members are all welcome to volunteer at Common Threads. Volunteers can help at the campus level by assisting the school nurse with clothing drives and organizing the donations. They can also volunteer at Common Threads and assist with washing, folding, and sorting clothes; filling orders and assisting parents and students with clothing selections.
