As a public school system, Lamar CISD welcomes all students who live within the district's boundaries and meet state age and health requirements. For specific enrollment information, please contact your child's school. If you need to find out which school your child will attend, please use the School Finder to look up the attendance boundaries for your address.

Haygood Elementary Capacity

Lamar CISD is proud to be among the fastest-growing districts in the state of Texas. In fact, demographers project that our community will add more than 48,000 new single-family homes within the next decade.   

To keep up with our growth, we frequently build and open new schools—while regularly reviewing and monitoring enrollment.  

Due to the growing student population that has resulted from new growth and development in the area, the district has enacted a cap on enrollment for students in Pre-K - 5th grades for Haygood Elementary effective January 19, 2026. This decision allows class sizes to remain at acceptable levels while not overloading instructional programs at the campus.

  • Families with students moving into the Haygood Elementary zone will be rezoned for Huggins Elementary located at 1 Huggins Drive, Fulshear, TX 77441. Transportation will be available to these families.  

    Please note, Huggins Elementary does not offer Pre-Kindergarten, any new Pre-Kindergarten students will attend Morgan Elementary, consistent with the current placement of Huggins zoned Pre-Kindergarten students. 

    This enrollment cap is a temporary solution while the district continues to work towards building new schools in the area. A new campus is scheduled to open in August 2026 to relieve Haygood Elementary.
