For the first time ever, the Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets based at Lamar Consolidated High School earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards.”

This is the highest-possible rating and was earned during a unit evaluation done March 3.  There are 104 students enrolled in the program, including George Ranch High School students who come to Lamar Consolidated High to participate.

Major Stephen Himber and Master Sgt. Pedro Saldana have teamed to create a supportive learning environment, coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provide leadership while administering a cadet-centered citizenship program.

The Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program is making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and community, Saldana said.
