The Lady Chargers celebrate after bringing home the first UIL State Championship for Fulshear High School.

Congratulations to the Fulshear Charger Volleyball Team, who claimed the 2019 4A State Championship with a straight 3-set victory over Hereford at the State Tournament in Garland, TX. In fact, in their 7 playoff matches, the Chargers never dropped a set, beating all opponents by a combined total of 21 sets to 0!

This State Championship is Fulshear's first and LCISD's first volleyball title since the then 3A LCHS Mustangs claimed the State Title back in the 1966-1967 school year.  The Chargers are Coached by Sydney Gotcher. The 4A State MVP was Charger Alexis Dacosta (So.) and she was joined by her fellow Chargers Ellie Echter (Jr.) and sister Brooklyn Dacosta (Sr.) on the All-Tournament Team as well. Assistant Coaches for Fulshear were Rebecca Anderson (CFHS Math Teacher) and Lauren Theileman (DLJH Math Teacher.) Brittney Mitchell was the Athletic Trainer who traveled with the team.

In addition to the coaches and trainers, a special thanks to Officer Nichols who traveled with the team all season to protect and serve. Principal Dan Ward and Campus Athletic Coordinator Oschlor Flemming provided assistance and encouragement to the coaches and team through each round of the playoffs. A special thank you goes out to the Leaman Junior High staff and coaches who showed up from the first game to the last to show their support for the program and the athletes. It was always a gym full of purple pride that brought home the wins! Congratulations to the Chargers on their State Championship!
