The National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) have issued reaccreditation to the Lamar Consolidated ISD automotive training program.
LCISD’s automotive program, and its lab located at Lamar Consolidated High School, have been recertified for the next five years in the following areas: brakes, electrical, engine performance, and suspension and steering.
To achieve this coveted recognition, the school’s automotive training program undergoes a rigorous evaluation every five years. The District met nationally-accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities and equipment.
“This is great news for automotive-minded young people and their parents,” said Donald Seyfer, national chairman of the Foundation. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Lamar Consolidated Independent School District’s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by LCISD, the public will benefit, since better repair technicians will join the work force.”
Upon completion of the reaccreditation, NATEF recommended that Lamar Consolidated High School be accredited for another five years by The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). ASE is a national non-profit organization which tests and certifies repair technicians, in addition to accrediting automotive training programs.
“During the past few months, we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain that our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted to continue to be a part of the ranks of the ASE accredited training programs,” said Deon Wilson, Auto Tech instructor at Lamar Consolidated High School.
“With these accreditations, students will be assured of a quality education, and shop owners will be assured of getting quality job applicants,” said Tracie Holub, Career and Technical Education Director.
