Our campus recently received over $17,000 in LEAF grants that went to many of our teachers. Teachers submitted grant requests earlier in the school year and a LEAF committee decided which teachers would receive an award. We are excited that so many of our staff received these grants. The dollar amount was the most we have ever received in a school year. Thanks to the LEAF committee and to all of our staff members that submitted grant requests. Our students will be benefitting from all of this extra funding.
I want to give you the latest update on the gas smell we have experienced in the front part of the building. Maintenance has given us the following on this situation:
"Just to give an update on the heating boiler for your school.
We had a technician out yesterday to look things over. We are now monitoring it in the mornings at start-up. This will continue Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week.
On Wednesday, a representative with Gulf Coast Boiler will be out to do a combustion test. We are fairly certain the boiler is running rich (too much natural gas pushing through to burn). This test will reveal possible changes needed that he will be able to make on the boiler to prevent the natural gas odor experienced."
I just wanted you to know that there is no danger to students or staff and hopefully the steps maintenance is taking will resolve the
issue. Please call if you have any additional questions.
