Lamar CISD Technology Administrator Ken Walla was recently recognized at the annual TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association), where he received the Lifetime
Achievement for the Advancement of Technology in Education award.
Walla joined Lamar CISD in 1983, serving as the district’s first ever coordinator for secondary science.
He served as chairman of the committee which developed the first Lamar CISD five-year technology plan. He became the Administrative Assistant for Technology, then the Administrator of Technology and the Administrator for Technology Staff Development.
Walla instigated the plan that led to a team of Campus Instructional Technology Specialists, who visit campuses, providing face-to-face training to teachers.
He also implemented Lamar CISD’s first online staff development.
He was also a frequent presenter at the TCEA State Conference and continuously volunteered
for the organization.
