Briscoe Athletics
The Briscoe tennis teams finished the season with district titles for the boys and girls. On Monday night, the girls won 1st place, with a total of 67 points. They outscored the 2nd place team by 22 points. In singles, the Lady Eagles had an all-Briscoe final between Natalia Barron and Kali Prior. Natalia defended her singles title, with Kali finishing 2nd. Dina Miller finished the tournament in 4th place, as well. In doubles action, the duo of Sierra Hoffart and Ashton Oglesby made it to the championship game, but fell to Reading. In addition to Hoffart/Oglesby's 2nd place finish, Kiki Gibson/Libby McGown placed 3rd and Jana Nidoy/Meggie Wang placed 6th overall. The girls team has won the district title for the 5th year in a row.
The Briscoe boys team also won district, in convincing fashion, scoring 68 points. 2nd place was a distant 2nd by 35 points. Boys singles won the top 3 places for the 2nd year in a row. Victor Nguyen defended his singles title, with a win over fellow Eagle, Anthony Nguyen. Laurence Tarquinio also placed 3rd. 7th grader Kai O'Donnell had a 6th place finish, as well. The Eagles placed 2 doubles pairs, the duo of Carter Wilson/Tyler Kutach won 1st place with a come-from-behind win. Derrick Ezeh and Sam Brown finished strong in 3rd place. These are back-to-back district titles for the boys, and the 3rd title in the last 4 years.
