The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded Lamar Consolidated Independent School District its Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting for meeting or exceeding the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.
The District was recognized for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2017 fiscal year. This is Lamar CISD’s 18th consecutive year of earning this designation.
The COE award confirms the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the COE program can help facilitate bond ratings and promotes a high level of financial reporting.
“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting, specifically through a district’s CAFR,” ASBO’s Executive Director, John Musso said in a letter to Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle. “The CAFR informs parents and other stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”
ASBO International, founded in 1910, is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth and the effective use of education resources.
