 Astronotes September 4, 2013

As we begin the 2nd week of school, the students and staff seem to be getting back into the routines of school.  For those of you that might be new to Austin, welcome to one of the best schools in the state.  I would like to send out reminders to our returning parents as well as our new ones. The following rules and procedures should be followed:

  1. When driving through the pickup line in the morning and afternoon, please pull all the way to the end to load or unload children.  An exception would be if you arrive and there is no line of cars then you can drop off or pick up by the front entrance.

  2. After the first week of school, we expect our students to become independent enough to walk to their classrooms without parent assistance.  If you feel your child needs assistance please let someone in the office know so that we can assist them.  We are having too many parents walking their child to class in the morning.  An exception to this would be if your child has to bring treats or he/she has a class project that they cannot bring without assistance. Please help us to allow your child to become more independent.

Next week will be our annual Curriculum Nights.  Included in this Astronotes is the schedule that you should follow as to the time and date for your attendance.  This will be a chance for you to find out about your childs classroom rules and procedures.  General information will be given out by each teacher that will help you to better understand what the expectations are for your child.  Any specific questions about your child should be addressed in an individual parent conference and not at Curriculum Night.  We look forward to seeing all of you at this important event.

Lastly, if your child is sick and will not be attending school, please call the school Nurse, Susan Marler at 832-223-1006.  If is a good practice to include extra clothing in the student's back pack in case of accidents as well.
