Community Service Project - Lunches of Love

Jan 25, 2014 | User Not Found

There are many children right here in LCISD whose families often have difficulty providing regular, nutritious meals.  Lunches of Love, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is committed to helping end childhood hunger in Rosenberg-Richmond by providing a free nutritious sack lunch during extended school holidays and weekends.  87% of the children served by Lunches of Love (LoL) receive free or reduced-price lunches from their schools.  On days when there is no school, many of these children would go without eating if not for LoL. LoL relies on donations from the community to fulfill their mission. There is now a donation bin in the lobby at Campbell (next to the Common Threads bin) to help fill  LoL’s year-round needs:

  • Individual fruit cups
  • Jars of Peanut Butter
  • Jars of Jelly
  • Family-sized or individual cereal boxes
  • Fruit juice boxes / pouches
  • Granola/cereal bars
  • Goldfish crackers
  • Pretzels

Please feel free to drop donations off at any time between the hours of 7:30am-4:00pm.  For more information on Lunches of Love, including great kid-friendly volunteer opportunities, visit http://lunchesoflove.net/.
