Each year, Lamar CISD honors employees for their service to the children of our community. While we might not be able to celebrate in person for the time being, we are grateful for the individuals below and thank them for their years of service to our District.
Do you remember what was going on in the world in 2015? Five years ago, Birdman was selected as “Best Picture” at the Oscars and the average price of gas was $2.51. Back in 2015, Disney banned the selfie stick from all of its theme parks, David Letterman hosted “Late Show with David Letterman” for the last time and the cost of a 30 second Super Bowl ad was just over 4.5 million dollars.

Back in 2010, The Hurt Locker was the Academy’s choice for “Best Picture” and one gallon of gas was right around $2.96. The top song of the year was “TikTok” by Ke$sha, Sony produced its final cassette walkman and Starbucks began offering free Wifi in all of its stores.

Thirty years ago brought us the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit, Driving Miss Daisy as the Academy's choice for "Best Picture" and a gallon of gas for $1.15. You could purchase a loaf of bread for 70 cents and the world marveled at Kevin McCallister's antics when his family left him "Home Alone."

1985 brought us the first version of Microsoft Windows, the first “.com” domain name and the removal of Route 66 from the United States Highway System. 35 years ago, Amadeus claimed “Best Picture” at the Oscars and one gallon of gas would cost you $1.12.

In 1980, the world was introduced to the Rubiks Cube, CNN and Post It notes. One gallon of gas would ring up at approximately $1.19 and the year’s “Best Picture” was Kramer vs. Kramer.
40- year employee: Shirley Schmidt.
In 1975, America was introduced to the Ford F-150, the first episode of Saturday Night Live and mood rings. Congratulations to our two employees who have been with Lamar CISD for 45 years!
