On August 13, Lamar CISD hosted its inaugural Back to School Block Party. Community members had the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that included inflatables, and obstacle courses. Food trucks were available for families to grab and go as they enjoyed the fun.
Attendees also had an opportunity to participate in family engagement activities such as read-a-louds, book giveaways, and so much more.
“I LOVE spending time with family, and that is what we are all here in Lamar CISD," Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said. "Anytime we can get together and show our kids that we are there for them and each other it is always a good time. What a great start to the new school year.”
During the event, parents had the opportunity to meet with district and campus leaders, and enjoy entertainment from courtesy of 97.9 the Beat, and watch car show provided by a local car club.
“Our goal was to greet our community, let them know we are here to support them as they start the school year, and provide resources they may need to be successful.,” Dr. Kanesha Waites, Director of Community Relations said. “The energy here is amazing. I am so grateful to our staff and partners for giving their time and support for today’s event. The impact we have made today is truly immeasurable.
