Lamar CISD is asking for feedback on the 2019-2020 Instructional Calendar through a brief survey. In this survey, you will find two calendar options with details for each option. The final recommendation will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the Feb. 21 Board meeting.
Overview of Option A:
- Resembles the current Lamar CISD instructional calendar
- School begins Aug. 26, 2019 and ends June 4, 2020
- The bell schedule will remain the same (Elementary: 7:30 a.m. – 2:40 p.m., Secondary: 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
- Includes one built-in Bad Weather Make-Up Day
Overview of Option B
- Allows the school year to end before June
- Requires 20 additional minutes at the end of elementary instructional day (7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
- Requires 15 additional minutes at the end of secondary instructional day (8:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.)
- Allows for the majority of staff development to be completed before the school year begins
- Includes two built-in Bad Weather Make-Up Days
Both calendar options would maintain the same daily teacher reporting times (no changes), and include the same holiday schedules for Thanksgiving, Winter Break and Spring Break. These holidays match the current 2018-2019 instructional calendar and align with our neighboring school districts in Fort Bend County for continuity. Following Board approval in February, Elementary and Secondary Education will add early release days and grading periods to the calendar.
