Lamar CISD Earns “A” in TEA’s Accountability Rating System

Aug 15, 2019 | Community Relations

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) received an overall “A” rating for 2018-2019 by the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) A-F Accountability System. Out of the more than 1,200 school districts and charter schools in Texas, Lamar CISD was one of only 301 districts to receive the "A" rating.

School districts are given an overall rating based on performance in three areas – Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps. Districts earn an “A” (90-100) for exemplary performance when they serve most students well and encourage high academic achievement and/or appropriate academic growth for students.

Additionally, Lamar CISD campuses earned a total of 86 distinctions in 2019, compared to 78 in 2018. The seven categories in which campuses can earn a distinction are English Language Arts/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Academic Growth, Closing Performance Gaps and Post-Secondary Readiness.

At the campus level, 28 campuses earned one or more Distinction Designations and three campuses earned all Distinction Designations for which they were eligible.

“We’re extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our staff, and the determination of our students,” said Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle. “This accountability rating reflects the vision of our board and the combined efforts of our staff, families and community to create an environment where students feel encouraged and supported, and as a result, excel academically.”
