Members of the Lamar CISD’s Community Relations Department were honored by their peers recently, as the team earned four Best of Category awards at the 2014 Texas School Public Relations Association Star Awards Banquet.

Competing against school districts from across Texas, the group also earned 10 Gold Stars, three Silver Stars and one Bronze Star. The competition looked at public relations materials produced during the 2012-2013 school year.

The Best of Category awards were for:

  • Best Printed Program, for the 2013 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon;
  • Best Poster Aimed at a Non-English-Speaking Audience, for Common Threads;
  • Best News or Information Video, for The Randle Report; and
  • Best Special Interest/Feature Series Video, for Reading Recovery.

“Every member of the team shares in these awards,” said Mike Rockwood, Lamar CISD’s Executive Director for Community Relations. “Our job is to tell the stories of why this is a great place to raise a family. These awards are a testament not only to our staff, but also to the great things going on in our community.”
