What is 385 square miles and extremely popular?

Lamar CISD.

The latest demographic report, performed by Population and Survey Analysts, predicts 40,000 homes—single-family houses, or multi-family apartments—will be built in Lamar CISD between now and 2023.

That number will nearly double the current number of homes in the District.

Lamar CISD is one of the largest school districts, in terms of land mass, in the Houston area. Of the 385 square miles, only 70 miles have been “built out.”

In the past 12 months, 21 subdivisions/master-planned communities have been planned or platted within Lamar CISD.

The report also states the “epicenters” of growth are expected to along FM 359, near Fulshear; along FM 723, between FM 1093 and the Brazos River; and parcels of land in what is now the George Ranch.

The report recommends Lamar CISD plan for eight additional elementary schools to meet the expected growth. Arredondo Elementary is already in the planning phase and is scheduled to open for the 2015-2016 school year. Other than Arredondo, funding is not in place for additional elementary schools.
