Athlete, volunteer honored at Lamar Special Olympics

An outstanding athlete and a dedicated volunteer were honored at the 34th Lamar Special Olympics Invitational, Saturday, April 11 in Lamar CISD’s Traylor Stadium.

Anasia Rodriguez is the 2014-2015 Judge Jodie Stavinoha Special Olympian of the Year. Judge Stavinoha’s niece, Patti Kocich, presented the award.

Stavinoha was a long-time supporter of the Lamar CISD Special Olympics program and the award was created in his honor shortly after his passing.

Jill Duban, a 10-year veteran of the Lamar Special Olympics, was named the 2014-2015 Volunteer of the Year. Foster High Principal Gene Tomas presented the award.
