Valedictorians for the Class of 2016

 greg alvarezGregorio Alvarez is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016 for Terry High School. He is the son of Robert and Rosie Garcia.

He plans to attend the University of Houston, majoring in mathematics. His long-term plans are to have a career in medicine.

Alvarez earned the University of Houston’s Academic Excellence Scholarship. While at Terry he was active in the Ranger Band, tennis and the National Honor Society. 











Joey SaadJoey Saad is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016 at Foster High School. He is son of Joe and Taylor Saad and Shonda Saad.

He plans to attend the University of Texas, majoring in chemical engineering. Saad hopes to develop ideas that will help the world.

Saad received the Valedictorian Exception at UT and also earned a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Metropolitan Scholarship. He was president of the National Honor Society and drum major in the Foster Falcon Band.













Ugene SanoUgene Gabrielle O. Saño is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016 at Lamar Consolidated High School. She is the daughter of Rowena Chona Saño and Emilio Saño Jr.

She plans to attend the University of Rhode Island and study to be a pharmacist.

She received the University of Rhode Island Centennial Scholarship and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Mustang Band, NEMOS (Science) Club and the 180 Club.















Jerry Yang Jerry Yang is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016 at George Ranch High School. He is the son of Jack Yang and Joyce Kuo.

He plans to attend either Harvard or the University of Texas, majoring in electrical engineering. He also plans to obtain numerous degrees, ranging from musical analysis to philosophy and eventually be an academic researcher. 

Yang received the scholarships from the EcoNRG Essay Contest, the Chinese Professional Club, the Todd and Sherri Elder STEM Scholarship and the Lamar Consolidated Educational Secretaries Association.

While at George Ranch, Yang was active in Science Olympiad, TEDxYouth, National Honor Society, UIL Academics, the Technology Student Association and volunteered at MD Anderson.
