Important Information

Lamar CISD is proud to be the 5th fastest growing district in the state of Texas. In fact, demographers project that our community will add more than 43,000 new single-family homes within the next decade. In 2020, Lamar CISD had the greatest number of new housing starts of any school district in the State of Texas.

To keep up with our growth, we are frequently building and opening new schools—while regularly reviewing and monitoring enrollment.

Due to the growing student population that resulted from new growth and development in the area, the district has enacted a cap on enrollment for Hubenak Elementary located at 11344 Rancho Bella Pkwy effective January 1, 2022 - May 31, 2023. This decision allows class sizes to remain at acceptable levels while not overloading instructional programs at the campus.

This enrollment cap is a temporary solution while the district continues to work towards building new schools in the area.

Families with students moving into the Hubenak Elementary zone will be rezoned for Huggins Elementary located at 1 Huggins Drive for the 2022-2023 school year. Transportation will be available to these families.

Parents may click HERE to start the enrollment process online.

What is an enrollment cap?
It's an administrative action that impacts building capacity by redirecting an incoming student population from overcrowded schools to schools with available space.

Who is impacted by the enrollment cap at Hubenak?
NEW residents (as of January 1, 2022) who are originally zoned to attend Hubenak Elementary.

How would the enrollment cap be implemented?
ONLY students/families who "move into" the Hubenak Elementary attendance zone after January 1, 2022 or those who live in the area but do NOT have students currently enrolled are impacted by the enrollment cap. All NEW students/families will be administratively re-assigned to a Huggins Elementary with the space and capacity for additional students. Transportation will be provided to these students.

Where are students impacted by the Hubenak cap reassigned to?
Huggins Elementary located at 1 Huggins Drive

Where do parents complete the enrollment process?
Parents should start the enrollment process online HERE.

If I live in the Hubenak Elementary zone, but I have to enroll at Huggins, will transportation be provided?

How long does it take for transportation to kick in for my students?
1-2 days

If the enrollment cap for Hubenak is in place for the 2022-2023 school year, may I enroll my student at Hubenak for the 2023-2024 school year?
It’s possible. The district regularly reviews and monitors enrollment. Decisions about enrollment at Hubenak Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year will be made and communicated as early as possible.

After the enrollment cap ends, will I have the option for my child to remain at Huggins if we live in the Hubenak zone?

I am a district employee zoned to another elementary campus, may I enroll my student at Hubenak for the 2022-2023 school year?
There is an enrollment cap in place for Hubenak Elementary effective January 1, 2022 - May 31, 2023. Students who currently attend Hubenak Elementary are not impacted, however new enrollment is closed—even to district employees.

I am a Hubenak employee zoned to another elementary campus, may I enroll my student at Hubenak for the 2022-2023 school year?
While there is an enrollment cap in place for Hubenak Elementary effective January 1, 2022 - May 31, 2023, staff who work at Hubenak Elementary may enroll their students at the campus.
