Lamar CISD Achieves “A” Accountability Rating for the 2021-2022 School Year

Aug 16, 2022 | Lamar CISD Communications

(Rosenberg, Texas) – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the 2021 – 2022 school accountability ratings. Once again, Lamar CISD received an “A” rating. This is the highest rating a district can receive. In addition, all Lamar CISD campuses met accountability.

In the entire state, only 10 districts, with enrollments above 25,000, received an A rating. That is 0.8% of Texas districts and Lamar CISD is proudly one of them.

Out of the larger school districts in the Houston metro area, Lamar tied with Cy-Fair for second with an overall score of 90. This is the first accountability rating for the district under the leadership of Dr. Roosevelt Nivens, Lamar CISD Superintendent.

“There is no doubt that the last couple of years in education have been challenging, not just for our students and their families but for our staff as well. These scores are not just numbers, they represent academic achievement but also the resilience and dedication that our staff embodies every day,” Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said. “Lamar CISD takes pride in continuing the proud tradition of academic progress. We strive to provide each child with an opportunity to meet their maximum potential.”

For district and campus leaders, while receiving an “A” rating was a celebration, learning that campuses collectively received 96 total distinctions which is 10 more distinctions the District received than they did pre-pandemic in 2019 was even more special.

Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Terri Mossige, who oversees the Department of Learning for Lamar CISD, expressed her admiration for campus leaders and instructional staff.

“A global pandemic brought new challenges. However, with strong leadership and collaboration throughout the district, Lamar CISD was able to quickly identify areas of focus and implement strategies to help students maintain progress,” she said. “This rating is a huge testament to our teachers and their ability to quickly adapt and keep student needs as their highest priority.”

Lamar CISD looks forward to welcoming more than 40,000 students back this school year which starts on August 22, 2022.

“As I start my second year as superintendent in Lamar CISD, I am excited to see what our students and staff accomplish this year,” Dr. Nivens said. “If these scores have proven anything, it is that we are resilient and we are limitless.”
