If you are going to run a Ranch, you better have a better-than-OK Chorale.
The George Ranch High School Chorale sang back up for legendary rock and roll band Foreigner at the Arena Theatre in Houston after winning a radio contest.
The Chorale earned the honor through a contest through George Ranch Choir Director Chris Cuellar sent a video Houston radio station KKRW (The Arrow). The video showed his group performing “I Want to Know What Love Is,” which was the group’s biggest hit, making it to No. 1 in 1985. It was also the song the Chorale performed with the band.
After that, the Chorales fans took over, voting on The Arrow’s website, hoping to send George Ranch to the stage. Then, Cuellar’s phone rang and the digital readout said “ClearChannel,” which is The Arrow’s parent company.
“I just knew they were going to say, ‘thanks for playing, but we've chosen someone else,’” Cuellar said. “I couldn't believe we’d won.”
