Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Dismissal

Procedures for Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Dismissal

Morning Arrival:
Students should have backpacks on and be ready to get out of the car when you stop at the paw print closes to the front of the line.

Parents should stay in cars and allow your child to open the door on the passenger side independently.

If your child cannot manage opening the car door and getting out independently, please consider parking in the lot and walking your child across the crosswalk.  Our goal is to keep the car rider line moving efficiently.

Please make only right turns out of the parking lot to keep our line flowing.  See traffic flow map

On Rainy Days, ALL students will enter through the main door of the school.

Afternoon Dismissal:
All students must have a transportation number affixed to their backpacks.  You received this in the plastic bag picked up from the school.

Car rider parents must have their transportation tag hanging from the rear view mirror.

Rainy Day Dismissal:
In order to manage our Rainy Day dismissal efficiently, please see the procedures below.

Rainy Day dismissal is typically called no earlier than 2:45 p.m. and will be communicated via a Skylert text and email message to all Adolphus families.

For safety reasons, no student will be permitted to walk or ride a bike home during a Rainy Day dismissal.

Every bike rider/walker has a Rainy Day dismissal plan on file with his/her teacher and will go home according to that plan.

If you are unsure of that plan, please contact your child's teacher.

In order to reduce the traffic jam, we recommend parents follow the request below:

HOV pick-up (more than one student):  Get in the car line from 2:55-3:00 p.m.

Single student pick up:  Get in the car line at 2:55 p.m..

Walk-in pick ups are discouraged and will not be processed until after 3:10 p.m. so that we can keep our staff's energy focused on keeping students safe and getting dismissal traffic moving.

Please pack your patience because rainy day dismissal are definitely a slower process than regular dismissals.  The staff works hard to get students into their cars as quickly as possible.

Birthday Treats

Several questions have come to the front office regarding birthday treats. The district determines the guidelines for birthday treats. Please see below.

Birthday treat guidelines are in the 2020-2021 Elementary Student Handbook on pages 21-22: Because of the time constraints, the treat is limited to one item per classmate, and it must be store purchased, single serve item (i.e. cupcake, cookie, etc.) so that it can be served, eaten, and cleaned up within a reasonable time. Due to COVID, the treats must be store purchased and individually wrapped.

Also in the 2020-2021 Elementary Student Handbook, it states that gifts, balloons, treat bags, and flowers are prohibited at school. Invitations to individual parties may not be distributed at school.

We hope this helps answer any questions you may have.
