December 12, 2023 – Rosenberg, Texas – Last night, during the Lamar CISD School Board Workshop for Rezoning and Leveling, the Trustees voted to approve secondary rezoning Option A, which is the District’s traditional approach to rezoning by neighborhoods. With this option, elementary schools will continue to split color tracks, but elementary schools will not determine secondary zoning. Going with Option A means that the elementary zones are separate from secondary zones.
The Board recognizes the significance of secondary rezoning and its impact on our students, families, and the community. As a result, the Board decided to revisit the vital conversation at the Board workshop.
This vote reverses the previous Board decision made during the November meeting. Following that meeting, community members expressed concern when trustees deliberated on an option that would outline the attendance boundaries for the next five years.
