On November 15, Lamar CISD convened the Districtwide Student Improvement Council (DSIC) to discuss why we are interested in pursuing a District of Innovation (DOI) designation. The DSIC is made up of teachers, staff, parents, business representatives, and community members with a requirement that more than 2/3 of the elected professional staff must be classroom teachers.
Our District remains committed to the continued success of our students, and we encourage our community to utilize the resources below to learn about our rationale for wanting this designation and what it could mean for our school community.
The Lamar CISD Board of Trustees voted to become a District of Innovation at the March 21, 2023 board meeting. The adopted District of Innovation Plan is linked below. By law, the term of the designation as a District of Innovation may not exceed five years. The term of the Lamar CISD Local Innovation Plan begins on March 21, 2023, and ends on March 21,
2028, unless rescinded or further renewed by the Board in accordance with law or terminated by the Commissioner of Education.
Update as of September 10, 2024: The proposed amended DOI Plan was presented to the Lamar CISD Districtwide Student Improvement Council (DSIC) on September 3, 2024, and was unanimously approved by the committee. Following this, the LCISD Board of Trustees reviewed the amended DOI Plan during a special called board meeting on September 10, 2024. The proposed amended plan will remain posted on the district’s website for 30 days for public review. The Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on the proposed plan on October 15, 2024.
