Donation Opportunities

Common Threads relies on donations and contributions from local businesses and community members. Donations are accepted throughout the year at every LCISD campus or at Common Threads during regular hours. Common Threads will sponsor various drives during the year to keep items in stock for students. All donations are tax-deductible.

Common Threads accepts donations of clothing for children ages 4-18. This can be either uniform or non-uniform clothing as well as backpacks and school supplies. Everything must be gently worn or like new. We also take purses, belts, cosmetic bags, and used books. We take only new socks and underwear. Even though our hours vary, please feel free to drop off your donations in our outdoor bin. Please follow the driveway to our back dock, where the donation bins are located.

Items can be new or gently used and include:

  • Student appropriate clothing (Sizes 4-XXL)
  • New socks and undergarments
  • Shoes (New or Like New)
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant)
  • Jackets and hoodies
  • Backpacks
  • Tax-deductible cash or check

Please contact Elida Castillo at 832-223-0342 or email at Elida.castillo@lcisd.org for more information. Service/Community hours will be given for those eligible.

Getting Involved with Volunteer Opportunities

Parents, student organizations and community members are all welcome to volunteer at Common Threads. Volunteers can help at the campus level by assisting the campus with clothing drives and organizing the donations. They can also volunteer at Common Threads and assist with washing, folding, and sorting clothes; filling orders, and assisting parents and students with clothing selections.

If over the age of 18, please go through the LCISD Volunteer Portal to become a volunteer.
