Charging Procedures
The goal of the Child Nutrition Department is that no child should go hungry. A nutritious, well-balanced breakfast and lunch are available daily. Parents can request specific purchasing limitations be placed on their student’s account by going to SchoolCafe. The following outlines the meal charge policy for the 2024-2025 school year: Students may charge meals up to a negative $15.00. Parents/guardians of Elementary/Secondary students will be notified via letter and an automated phone call when the prepaid meal account reaches a negative balance. If a student reaches the charge limit of negative $15.00, a student will receive a “value” breakfast consisting of an entree of choice and milk. During lunch, the student will receive a “value meal” consisting of a hot entrée currently offered and milk. When a student reaches 5 consecutive “value” meals, the Child Nutrition Department will notify the school administration. School administration will then place a phone call to the parent to discuss the negative balance and provide information to those families that might need assistance with applying for free and reduced-priced school meals.
Payments can be made at each campus cafeteria with cash or check. Payments can also be made online at SchoolCafe. Students with negative balances cannot purchase or charge snacks and extras. Food should never be used as a punishment
