Bus Rules

General Bus Information

  1. Obey the instructions of the bus driver. At no time will a student act toward or address comments to the bus driver in a disrespectful manner or refuse to cooperate with the driver.
  2. Board and leave the bus at designated stops only.
  3. Only students who are eligible to ride may be transported. Students must live more than 1/2 mile from their home school.
  4. Students must ride their assigned bus.
  5. Students may not ride home with a friend.
  6. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide transportation to school if a child misses the bus. Be at the bus stop at least 5 minutes early to ensure not missing the bus.
  7. Due to normal and sometimes extraordinary situations, buses can run late. Do not leave the bus stop or call until 15 minutes past the posted arrival time.

Expectations While on the Bus

Please note that district buses are equipped with video cameras.

  1. Students should observe the same rules of conduct while riding the bus as they do in the classroom.
  2. Remain seated while the bus is moving. Each student will be expected to remain seated for the duration of the trip, and remain seated until the bus door opens.
  3. Do not change seats. The driver is required to assign seats.
  4. A student shall not refuse to sit in an assigned seat or deny another a place to sit.
  5. Normal conversation is permitted; any loud noises may distract the driver and create an unsafe condition.
  6. Scuffling, fighting, and the use of obscene, or vulgar or profane language and gestures are forbidden.
  7. Do not throw objects inside or out of the bus. Vandalism costs will be paid by the person who is responsible.
  8. The emergency door and exit controls should be used by pupils only during supervised drills or actual emergencies.
  9. Students will never attempt to sit in the driver’s seat or operate the passenger door or other driver controls except in cases of extreme emergency.
  10. Students shall face forward for the duration of the trip, and shall keep their feet on the floor in front of them and out of the bus aisle. Keep all body parts inside the bus and to yourself.

Prohibited Items

  1. Tobacco, alcohol, and glass containers.
  2. The eating of food and candy is prohibited on the bus.
  3. The chewing of gum is also prohibited.
  4. Live animals or insects.
  5. Weapons, explosive devices, matches or cigarette lighters, harmful drugs or chemicals.
  6. Any object (musical instrument, shop project) too large to be carried by the student. All other items must be kept on the students lap at all times
