Summer School Opportunities

 

Lamar CISD offers summer school opportunities for Pre-K/ Kindergarten Emergent Bilingual students, Junior High School students (grades 7 & 8), STAAR EOC Re-Testers, and High School credit recovery and original credit students. Click on the options below to learn more about each of these programs.

  • 2025 LCISD Bilingual/ESL Summer School Program for Current Pre-K and K Emergent Bilingual Students

    LCISD will be offering face to face summer school program for current eligible Pre-K and Kindergarten Emergent Bilingual students who will be entering either kindergarten or first grade in the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. 

    This program will help your child to continue in his/her development of English language proficiency, literacy and academic skills needed for success in school.

    The summer school program will be held from June 2nd to June 26th, 2025.

    Dates: June 2- June 26, 2024
    Times: 7:45-2:30 Monday through Friday

    Students who enroll and participate the summer school program will receive instruction from certified ESL or Bilingual teachers.

    Bus transportation will be provided.

  • 2024 Junior High Summer School

    LOCATION: Reading Junior High 8101 FM 762 Rd., Richmond, TX 77469

     

    Junior High Summer (7-8) Programs

    The Junior High Summer session is for current 7th & 8th Lamar CISD students who have failed core content classes (ELAR, Math, Science, or History). Junior High School students will be enrolled in the required summer school courses by their school counselors. The school counselors will notify parents and students that they are required to attend summer school and provide all necessary information pertaining to the summer school courses.

    LOCATION: Reading Junior High 8101 FM 762 Rd., Richmond, TX 77469
    Student instructional days: June 5 through June 22, 2024
    Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm
    Students attend the full day.

  • High School

    STAAR EOC Tutorials will be offered for students in LCISD needing to retake a STAAR EOC. Students will attend a full day (1 session) if they require one EOC, the session time will be based on scheduling availability. Students who failed more than 1 EOC will attend the full day (2 sessions).

    TUTORIALS:

    June 17th – 21st, 2024

    • Monday, June 17, Tuesday, June 18; Wednesday, June 19 (student and staff holiday) Thursday, June 20; Friday, June 21
    • Note: Students stay the entire day. If a student only needs one tutorial course, it will be an all-day course. If a student needs more than one tutorial course, then it will be ½ day tutorial courses.

    RETEST DATES:

    • June 24 – English 1
    • June 25 – Algebra 1
    • June 26 – English 2
    • June 27 – Biology & US History  
    • No Make-up Day

  • 2024 High School Summer School

    Initial Credit and Credit Restoration Classes (1/2 credit each session) - Session #1 and Session #2

    • Session #1 will be held Monday - Friday: from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM
      Monday, June 3rd through Friday, June 14th, 2024.
    • Session #2 will be held Monday - Friday: from 8:15 AM to 3:30 PM
      Monday, July 1st through Friday, July 12, 2024.
      Thursday July 4th (is a student and staff holiday)
    • Open to students in 8th – 12th grades

    HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS
    Payment information in SchoolCash will not appear until the next Monday following registration. For example, if you register for a course on Wednesday, the payment information in SchoolCash will not appear until the next Monday.
    Registration Dates: April 17th through May 17th
    Payment due no later than May 22, 2024
    Initial Credit In-District Cost: $150 per session ($75 per session for LCISD students on free or reduced lunch program. No cost for Credit Restoration. Credit Restoration not available for Out-of-District students.
    Initial Credit Out-of-District Cost: $250 per session
    High school students (including incoming 9th graders) will need to self-register online through Family Access in Skyward for both initial credit and credit recovery courses and pay for initial credit courses through Family Access/SchoolCash. (No fees for credit restoration courses). Payment must be received in full by May 22nd or students will be dropped from the course.     OUT OF DISTRICT & NON-LCISD STUDENTS
    Students who live outside of the LCISD school zones are considered out of district and will need to pay out of district course fees. Students who do not attend LCISD but live within LCISD school zones qualify for district course fees. Any students who have never been enrolled in a LCISD school will need to enroll before registering for summer courses.   • 2025 Extended School Year (ESY)- Special Education

    The extended school year is a special education service determined by the student's ARD committee by reviewing student data and progress. The service is intended to reduce and prevent regression of skills during the summer months. ESY programs include academic, behavioral, and social skills support.
