Voters approved Lamar CISD's 2017 Bond package, with slightly more than 60 percent of those going to the polls authorizing the District to raise money to deal with increased enrollment.
The final tally from the Fort Bend County Elections Office was 4,721 for the bond proposal and 3,044 against. Once sold, bond revenue will purchase land, build a new high school, a junior high and three elementary schools. The District will also make improvements to current facilities and purchase technology and buses.
"I want to thank the members of our community for showing their continued support for public education," said Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle. "I believe it is your commitment that has made Lamar CISD a popular destination for families. My pledge is to work with the School Board to build schools and facilities our community will be proud of, while keeping an eye on our tax dollars."
