Back To School Block Party

Block Party will take place on Saturday, August 1, from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM. We encourage families to arrive early to enjoy all of the activities before supplies run out!

Parking will be available in the front parking lot of Tomas High School, with event access from Easton Ramsey Way.

If the main parking lot reaches capacity, overflow parking will be available at Banks Junior High and Bilstein Middle School. Lamar CISD school buses will provide continuous shuttle service from both overflow parking locations to Tomas High School throughout the event.

We recommend bringing the following to make the most of your Block Party experience:

• 💦 Towels and a change of clothes or swimsuit for the Splash Zone.
• 💉 If you plan to receive a free vaccine from our Walgreens team, please bring your insurance card, a valid photo ID, and your student's ID (if you have last year's school ID available).
• 😊 A smile and your excitement—we'll take care of the rest!

The event is completely free, so there is no need to bring cash or a credit card to participate in activities.

Yes! We'll have a variety of snacks and refreshments available for families to enjoy throughout the morning while supplies last.

Available items include:

• 🍧 Two snow cone trucks (one generously sponsored by NRG)
• 🥤 Bottled water
• 🍿 Popcorn
• 🌭 Frito pies
• 🍬 Assorted candy

Please note that quantities are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once they're gone, they're gone!

Yes! Admission and activities are completely free for all Lamar CISD families and community members.

Block Party is your one-stop destination to kick off the new school year! Families will have the opportunity to:

• Meet your campus principal
• Complete beginning-of-the-year transportation forms.
• Connect with Lamar CISD departments and ask questions before school begins.
• Meet representatives from our athletic programs.
• Explore Career & Technical Education and student organizations.
• Visit with community partners offering valuable resources for families.
• Enjoy hands-on activities, student performances, Touch-a-Truck, the Splash Zone, cooking classes, and so much more!

Whether you're new to Lamar CISD or returning for another school year, Block Party is the perfect way to get connected, get your questions answered, and celebrate the start of an amazing school year.

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please keep the following in mind:

• This event is held on a Lamar CISD campus. All district policies and the Student Code of Conduct apply.
• Weapons, illegal substances, alcohol, tobacco products, vaping devices, and any other prohibited items are not permitted on school property.
• Appropriate attire is required. Clothing should be suitable for a family-friendly event and comply with Lamar CISD dress code expectations.
