Child Find Procedures
Lamar CISD is required to implement a comprehensive Child Find system in which district personnel engage in activities designed to locate and identify students with disabilities. The Child Find process is to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities who are in need of special education and related services who reside within the school district's boundaries or attend a private school within the district's boundaries.
The process of referring students to Special Education in the Lamar CISD occurs as one possible outcome of the campus Problem Solving Teams (PST). A primary focus of the PST is the identification of interventions for the student and progress monitoring to guide the content and intensity of interventions. A referral to Special Education will occur when there is evidence that the student has not responded to interventions which were implemented with fidelity and appropriately targeted the student's difficulty.
